What is Tooth Filling?

A tooth filling or dental filling is a restorative procedure to treat a cavity, repair a broken or cracked tooth and a worn-down tooth due to time and/or some habits like nail-biting and tooth grinding/clenching.

Your dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth, clean the affected area and fill it using a variety of filling materials. This will restore the tooth to its original function and shape and prevent further decay. The material we usually use is composite resins.

Why Dental Filling?

A dental filling is a type of restorative dentistry treatment used to repair minimal tooth fractures, tooth decay or otherwise damaged surfaces of the teeth. Filling materials, which include composite, porcelain and silver amalgam, may be used to even out tooth surfaces for better biting or chewing.

Importance of Tooth Fillings

  • The most important function of this process is to give a beautiful, healthy and everlasting smile
  • Prevent the Spread of Decay
  • Restore the Strength of Your Tooth
  • Avoid Infection

Small cavities can be restored with fillings. If tooth cavity or decay is not treated then tooth might need RCT, crown or possible extraction. Cavities should be fixed before they become too big to avoid any complications in future.
